What is it?
A mammogram is an X-ray of your breast tissue.
What to tell us?
- If you are pregnant or suspect you may be pregnant.
- If you have breast implants.
- If you have had any prior breast surgery.
- If your doctor has also asked for a breast ultrasound.
How to prepare?
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment. This allows time for the completion of paperwork.
Please wear a comfortable, two-piece outfit and remove any necklaces.
Do not wear any deodorant, talcum powder, perfume or body lotion on the day of your examination.
It is imperative that you bring any prior breast imaging with you to your appointment. Our Radiologist will do a comparison report with your previous imaging.
How long does it take?
A mammogram takes between 20 – 30 minutes.
We bulk bill mammograms provided you have a current Medicare card and meet the Medicare criteria. If the scan is considered a screening test, you will be charged $100 for the scan, and this will not be rebateable (claimable) from Medicare.
We will forward the result of your procedure electronically to your doctor. The results will be available in 2 – 3 working days.
